Preparations are in the works for Second Life residents to party for
peace in aid of 'International Peace Day' on 21st September in tandem
with Real Life celebrations happening around the world. The Real Life
events span the globe from Hawaii to South Africa, Brazil to Amsterdam
tied together through one virtual reality in Second Life. This promises
to be a real global celebration of the one-day global cease fire!
In Second Life a Main Peace Stage has been prepared by Synthetyc Summer,
owner of Simplicity Island, and from 1am-10pm SLT the Main Peace Stage
will present videos, slide shows, live performances and stream the real
life events into Second Life from around the globe, including:
London – at the well known music hot spot, 'The Bedford', the live
concert is being streamed live on the internet and also in 'Second Life'
to The Blarney Stone (Best Irish Bar In Virtual Reality) and other
'Sims'. Musicians, including 'Steve Balsamo', a British singer and
songwriter, famous for his lead role in the London version of Jesus
Christ Superstar and lead vocalist of 'The Story's', will be singing for
Peace at the party along with 'Mike Lindup' of 'Level 42', 'Antonio
Forcione' and ‘Tony Moore’ (a popular real life and much-loved second
life music veteran).
California - to be held at Marin Brewing Co., Marin county's first
brewpub. Armin Winter and surprise guests to be announced – this is
California, you never know who might show up! For further information
please go to

Amsterdam - at Molly Malone’s Irish pub. Organised by Jootje
Mastenbroek-Dobber, aka JoJa Dhara (Voice 0,000,004,133) and Kees Draab
(Voice Number 0,000,004,135), aka Kaycee Drayman in Second Life, this
event will be presented at the border of Virtual Holland Business and
Virtual Rotterdam . Artists performing include some of the best-loved
Second Life artists such as Tim Anadyr, Aurora Metaluna, Yip Jannings,
Moon Spark and many more.
The Teatre Casto Alves in Brazil. Aldo Brizzi and Reis will perform in
San Paulo for a live audience, under the sponsorship of the Brazilian
Ministry of Culture, and the event will be simulcast into the NAG
virtual reality.
Additional stages have been enlisted to host simultaneous shows and
these can all be accessed from the Main Peace Stage on 21st September.
For example, the London event will be streamed to the Main Peace Stage
AND the best Irish Bar in Virtual Realty, The Blarney Stone. Other
stages are located at the NAG Art Gallery (Brazil event), Virtual
Holland (Dutch event) and d.c. al fine (South African event).
Tony Moore, Music Director at The Bedford in London hosting the live
event, states "I am honored that we are having a peace concert that will
be webcast to the world! The Bedford has always sought to champion the
best of performers and the most innovative of ways to reach appreciative
listeners!"
John Mahon, aka Ham Rambler in Second Life and Proprietor of The Blarney
Stone (Best Irish Bar In Virtual Reality!) adds, "This is an initiative
we are pleased to support fully. It is a chance to get together with
your friends and neighbors for a worthy cause and great music. Making it
available online lets the whole world participate!"
Rachel Riley (Voice 0,000,000,002) aka Inchino Melson (performer, Peace
In Our Lifetime partner and Second Life event organiser) in Second Life
adds, "The virtual reality of Second Life allows the organisers of the
global celebrations to tie events together in a single (albeit virtual)
location. The global events will be shared with thousands of people who
would otherwise not take part. I am thrilled that technology can bring
this unique day to people’s attention in such a fun and imaginative way."
These global celebrations have been organised by 'Peace In Our
Lifetime', a UK organisation inspired and founded by Actress and Peace
Pioneer 'Lynne Hazelden'. “The Global United Party For Peace', is a way
of bringing attention to Peace Day and thanking everyone on the ground
and in our lives who work towards peace every day,” said Ms Hazelden,
“Through this event, and 'Peace In Our Lifetime', we aim to unite all:
causes, people, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs.”
The aim of the celebration is to count one billion people around the
world who make a personal and conscious choice to stand together for
peace, freely and uniquely; and to unite all: causes, people, cultures,
nations, beliefs and non-beliefs' to one voice. This being achieved the
organisers website
(www.peaceinourlifetime.org) where they acknowledge and thank each
person who adds their voice to peace by providing them with a free
personalized certificate' and unique voice number.
The 'Global United Party For Peace' event is being held in support of
the excellent work of 'Peace One Day', founded by British Filmaker
'Jeremy Gilley'. In 1999, Jeremy launched the organisation to find a
starting point for peace, he succeeded and thanks to his hard work, the
United Nations made the 21st September an annual day of global ceasefire
and non-violence. On this day, in 2007, in Afghanistan, through the
efforts of 'Peace One Day', 1.4 million children were immunised for Polio.
On Peace Day 2009 around the world, people will be taking positive
action to promote peace, create ceasefires in war zones and organise
life-saving activities. In addition to the London 'Global United Party
For Peace', parties will also take place in Canada, Brazil, USA, South
Africa and Jerusalem. These parties have been organised by 'Peace In Our
Lifetime' in conjunction with a number of key partners, including 'Peace
Jam', a pioneering organisation who’s intention is to bring forth the
next generation of peacemakers. The Nobel Peace Laureates initiative
launched 'A Global Call to Action'; called 'A Billion Simple Acts of
Peace' and are working together with everyone to change the world.
“I am really looking forward to performing at 'Peace In Our Lifetimes'
London 'Global United Party For Peace' event,” said Steve Balsamo, “To
mark and celebrate a day when human beings lay down our weapons as a
conscious choice is important. I'm honoured to be communicating this
important message through music.”

Madonna live in Brazil - Anna Avalanche Second Life Blog
This was an article about Madona in Brazil publish in the February Issue at déjà vu Magazine. Enjoy!!!
Madonna live in Brazil
By Anna Avalanche, Gisa Miles and Luiz Speedwell
Pictures credit for Marcelo Rossi
What to say about Madonna!!! She is hot, she is Pop, she is Madonna (from Italian: My lady, lady, milady, Virgin Mary) and she was live in Brazil last week as part of her music tour.
Madonna is the most famous pop star in the world and her songs are always successful. She has been regarded as "one of the greatest pop acts of all time" and dubbed the "Queen of Pop" by various sources.
For her fans doesn’t matter that Madonna is ranked by the Recording Industry Association of America as the best-selling female rock artist of the twentieth century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States with 63 million certified albums. Guinness World Records list her as the world's most successful female recording artist of all time and the top-earning female singer in the world with an estimated net worth of US$490 million, having sold over 200 million records worldwide. This could mean nothing for the fans and the audience but on March 10, 2008, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and this year she surpassed Elvis Presley as the artist with most top ten hits in the history of Billboard Hot 100.
But Madonna is not only a singer. Madonna is Madonna, almost a deity in the eyes of fans. She is a dedicated mother and her children have accompanied her trough the tour. Furthermore she is also a women's business which is always a step ahead of its time. Madonna is the queen of the dance floor. Her career has swept from the early 1980s to the late 1990s, ranging from pop charts to MTV to the silver screen. And still, Madonna continues to redefine herself. At once, she is a sultry siren, a marketing phenomenon, a movie diva, and a mother.
Even with the divorce with her former husband, Guy Ritchie just announced. There is a Santa Claus at least for Madonna’s fans. Her tour brought to Brazil Santa Claus earlier this year. The singer returned to Brazil for the most awaited show of the year. Far from the Brazilian stage since 1993, she came back for 5 concerts in Brazil, 2 in Rio de Janeiro, in the Maracanã Stadium, and 3 in Sao Paulo in the Morumbi Stadium.
Sticky & Sweet Tour is the eighth world tour of the artist. The tour is based on the latest album released in April 2008, Hard Candy, premiered in 1st place in the parades of more than 30 countries. The spectacle traveled to Europe, North and South America. It has broken new records of audience with more than 1.25 million tickets already sold. Do you think she is lucky as a singer and unlucky in love (the correct quote should be “Unlucky at cards, lucky in love”)? Maybe! But she is Madonna, “My lady” the inspiration of thousands of women and fans.
Here in Brazil about 70 thousand people in each concert crowed the stadiums to see the pop Diva, even under rain like happened in Rio and São Paulo. Cheerful and agitated, the spectacle was planned in each detail. Much of the audience jumps sings and shakes it frantically while, on stage, the queen of pop proof those 50 years is an age that insists on ignoring his body. Supported by a team of 12 dancers, Madonna dances non-stop, jump ropes, and could play guitar, backed by musicians who appear even when she sing out of tune - moments that happen, but for the audience, not overshadow the brightness of the spectacle.
Even with some troubles like heavy rain that causes her to slip and fall on the stage the super pop singer lavish energy and satisfaction. The incident didn’t bother her at all. At the end of the show Madonna yield to the hot Brazilian fan audience and promise – “Te amo” (in Portuguese I love you) and “I am very happy to be back and next time I won’t take so long”. She also surprised the audience with a passionate malicious worry about the wet crowd asking if they were wet because of the heavy rain, or maybe… she was meaning other thing! With Madonna who knows! Again on this show she ends with the Brazilian national official soccer team T shirt. She said that she would like the Brazilian shows to be the featured on her new DVD! She loved her shows in Brazil and the passion of Brazilian tropical friendly country.
On her least show in Brazil Madonna said that was unhappy because the end of the tour but at the same time she was happy to end it on Brazil. She shouts: “You are the best public that exists” before sing the music You Must Love Me.

Matie in blue. This gabardine dress is a saturated slate blue and beautifully textured to show depth and movement.
The full tea-length skirt is a beautiful sweeping design, graceful with each step you take, a Baiastice trademark characteristic.
Hiding beneath this gorgeous gown are the Matie thigh high stockings, a thick band of elegant blue lace topping these sheer seamed stockings.
The Matie bodice is a lace underlayer with a bustier bodice worn over the top. The lace underblouse can also be worn alone, and features discreet placement of the floral pattern to allow sexy but not scandalous exposure!
The prim peplum defines the strong silhouette and the full length bell-end gloves and prim collar as well as the beret hat add the finishing details for this very well thought-out creation.
The matching evening bag is trimmed in coordinating lace and will find hold those few essentials each woman needs for her night out!
A formal gown designed with rare silk and sheer silk. The Urghenz bodice is sexy bustier in shirred print silk, the sleeves are prim capped and finished with bows and ruched bell prim cuffs. An alternate and included bodice is done in sleeveless light lace. The full ballgown-type skirt of Urghenz is kinetically active, fashioned of rare silk flexiprim panels, it has the hint of a train and is beautifully nuanced in shades of silver and cream. The waist of the Urghenz gown is a rose prim belt--realistically rendered silver rosesand leaves form the tone on tone subtle floral accent. The Urghenz top hat and rose/veil lace spray is elegant and befitting of a princess who is stylish with a bit of an attitude!Regal a nd pristine, fresh and youthful.. this gown is all things for all occasions.
Reverse. Created of velvet and satin, the Reverse bodice is sheer satin lace with pockets discreetly placed so that it can be worn even on a PG sim. The layered prim sleeves and collar as well as the sheer lace peplum add dimension to the bodice and realistic details to the entire garment. The pencil skirt is shaded to show the satin's sheen and has a delicate print that echoes the peplum of the top. The Reverse hat is a mod touch, a billed cap with coordinating band. Sexy, modern and tailored... Reverse has it all covered, and with amazing style!
Sissy Pessoa, the genius of Baiastice, released her new ATTITUDE II Fall Collection of Clothing and Accessories for immediate purchase. After the show, i talked with Maddox DuPont, Owner of KMADD City & MADesigns Shapes, Fashion consultant ~ MAD Image, Art Director and owner of MAD Agency and Fashion writer for GLAM Magazine
Melinda Emms: how is hosting a show for a label like baiastice?
Maddox DuPont: Baiastice is one of our most loved clients that has had number of great shows with MAD Agency. She knows what she wants and she has confidence that MAD Agency can deliver it. This time was no different.
Melinda Emms: and for sure she can be confident, you do a great job!
Maddox DuPont: Inspired by Madonna's Rain video. She came to us with a request of clean, modern, cool minimalistic set for her new line Attitude II. Sissy's clothing is breathless, she is one of the most creative and flamboyant designers we love doing shows for.
Melinda Emms: i think you had defined everything when you use the word breathless, she really is!! Thanks Maddox, and congrats for your great show.
Now, stay with some of her creations.
Uff....now i will run to Baiastice. ;)

DAB GOREAN EXPO BY MELINDA EMMS
DAB Designs is promoting the "DAB GOREAN EXPO" during september 08 and 09 at neverending.
"Gor is a world created by John Norman in a series of 27 science fiction novels. It is located on the same orbit as Earth, but is directly opposite to us so that it is always on the other side of the sun and undetectable to Earth science. Gor is a world of greater and lesser technology. A race of Priest Kings, insect like creatures, live in the Sardar mountains. They have a technology superior to ours. They rule as Gods over the planet, but remain unseen and mysterious to the populace. They limit humans to a rudimentary technology, similar to that of the medieval era here on earth. There are different cultures on Gor, different cities, peoples of the wilderness and there are differences in laws and customs among them. However, there are similarities regarding the roles of men and women as seen on Gor. On Gor, as in our own past on this planet, men are dominant. Men are Masters. There are kajiri, male slaves, but they are rare. Gor is a man's world. Women have three roles on Gor. In the books it is noted that the majority of women are Free Women, and only 2 to 3% are slaves. It would appear that there are more slaves than Free Women because the books focus more on women as slave characters, and in online role play, more women choose to role play as slaves than Free Women. Many women who start out as Free become enslaved, but not all, and this further reduces the number that we see in online role play. Free Women are the respectable women of Gor, the ones who become Free Companions and the mothers of children. The closest thing to marriage on Gor is a Free Companionship contract which lasts for a set period of time, usually a year or two. They run the household, work in professions outside the home, raise and teach children. A Free Woman may even have her own silk kajirus, a male pleasure slave. A Free Woman must be keenly aware that her freedom is always at risk. If she shows slave-like behaviour, she can be enslaved. Such behaviour would include dancing in public, dressing immodestly (showing too much of bare arm or leg, showing her naval, and in some places not covering her hair and face with veils), or addressing a man as Master. If a city is raided, she can be captured by enemies and enslaved and sold. If she or her father cannot pay debts, she can be enslaved and sold to cover the debt. If a Free Woman couches or prepares to couch with a slave not her own, she can be enslaved. A Free Woman must toe the line if she wishes to remain Free. A woman can flee to the forests and live as a Panther Girl. These women are escaped slaves and Free Women fleeing an undesired Free Companionship contract. Panther Girls live in the wild. They sometimes capture and enslave men, playing with them for a bit and then selling them when bored with them. If a Panther girl enters a city, she is likely to be enslaved. A woman does have choice on Gor, but make no mistake, it is a man's world and the domination of men over women is considered to be the natural order of things." (extract from Gor 101 by Vivienne Daguerre)
I talked with Daron Brandeis, CEO of DAB designs:
ME:How did you have the idea of an interactive expo?
Daron Brandeis: it came to me when i was watching a show, a normal runway show, and how the first designers that showed there items would have less sales because most people forgot about there designs, so i thought if the items were already out and in the vacinity of the models people could buy there and then as they were looking at the items on the models.
ME:Why the gorean motivation?
Daron Brandeis: I am gorean. I come from a gorean background that is why, but the concept works on any type of show.
ME:How many designers and models are involved on the expo?
Daron Brandeis: 9 designers and approximately 30 models
ME: Do you wanna say anything else to our readers?
Daron Brandeis: this is a forward thinking way of showing of some of the best designers in sl, nevermind gor items and i'm proud that i have such a hardworking dedicated team of professional models to help and support the dab dream and family.
Thanks Daron! Thanks for letting me be part of this.
