Linden Lab Goes Shopping, Buys Virtual Goods Marketplaces to Integrate Web Shopping with Second Life
San Francisco, CA – January 20, 2009 - Linden Lab®, creator of the virtual world Second Life®, today announced a key milestone in its expansion of the Second Life platform: acquiring two Web-based marketplaces for virtual goods, Xstreet SL and OnRez. These acquisitions join several other recent strategic initiatives, including enhancements to the experience for new users, which will enable Linden Lab to reach a broader global audience for Second Life in 2009. Linden Lab is consolidating the two marketplaces on the Xstreet SL platform, offering one online shopping experience for customers and merchants. This will make it easier for Second Life Residents to find virtual goods to purchase and will provide merchants broader channels to sell their products.
The global market for virtual goods is estimated to be approximately USD $1.5 billion a year,* and Second Life plays a significant role in this market. In 2008, Residents of Second Life purchased and sold more than USD $360 million of virtual goods and services. Shopping for virtual goods has become one of the most compelling and popular aspects of the Second Life experience. The acquisition of these e-commerce sites will aid the continuing growth of the Second Life economy by making it even more convenient for buyers and sellers to transact virtual goods and services online.
Similar to e-commerce sites for real world goods, such as Amazon and eBay, Xstreet SL provides an online catalog, where Second Life Residents can browse, purchase and sell Second Life-related virtual goods and services. Just as e-commerce Web sites provide a complement to shopping in real life, Xstreet SL complements how Second Life Residents shop inworld – visiting 3D stores, shopping centers and malls to purchase virtual services and goods from the Residents who created them. Linden Lab will integrate the Xstreet SL marketplace with Second Life, making virtual goods easier for consumers to find on the Web. The enhancements to the e-commerce experience will also drive Residents inworld to collect and use the goods they purchase online, enabling Second Life merchants to further promote their inworld stores. Merchants will also gain additional ways to market the more than 680,000 Second Life goods currently listed for sale online, including apparel, animations, vehicles, buildings and furniture.
"Linden Lab is expanding its footprint in the virtual world industry through four major initiatives – localizing the Second Life experience in key markets around the world, simplifying the 'first hour experience' to broaden consumer adoption, enhancing the platform for enterprise users and building our virtual goods marketplace," said Mark Kingdon, CEO of Linden Lab. "Content creators and merchants are pillars of the strong Second Life economy. With these e-commerce acquisitions, we will now be able to offer content creators and merchants an opportunity to substantially improve their businesses, while enhancing the Second Life experience for all of our Residents."
"The vibrant inworld economy is part of what makes Second Life such a compelling experience for Residents," said Jay Geeseman, founder of Xstreet SL. "Just as e-commerce can enhance the shopping experience for real life goods, so it can for virtual goods. With the Xstreet SL marketplace integrated more closely with Second Life, Residents will be able to find goods more easily and shop more conveniently, while merchants will have broader channels to sell their creations."
For the immediate future, Xstreet SL will continue to function as it has with only minor changes. OnRez will remain active for a few weeks to give customers and merchants an opportunity to migrate their accounts and product listings over to Xstreet SL.
Dear readers, do you think this will be a good strategy for Second Life? Will this affect your business? How will affect your Second Life? Please leave your comments on what you think about this announcement.

Dressing clue by Gisa Miles
Although evening Gowns do not suffer so much interference of trends such as casual or fashion "prêt a porter"... Tissues technology, the geometry and the differentiated structures call attention. If there are some elements of different textures, design, shapes and details... Point scored for you! You are communicating something more in your personality and it will serve like a poison anti-monotony and anti-competition.
Trends come and go back, sometimes the long dresses are the sensation, sometimes are the short. But everything depends on respecting the time of the event, the weather and the body of each one. Who are overweight and has a thick shank should choose a log dress. Who are overweight, but has a thin shank will be better dress with a short or a medium long. Remember medium log makes you appearance shortens.
The colors are also stylish and are in high... In my opinion every woman must have a “black basic” on the closet only for security reason. If the first, second or third option don’t fit well. The black can’t be considered the solution. It must be “the black”, which seems to have been done especially for you. You can complement with accessories like; socks, belts and hair ornaments. You can wear all this but don’t let it be one "black basic" on the crowd.
The colorful dresses are also “chic” and each day has more and more fans... The neutral colors transmit messages of sobriety. Remember, fabric, different surface, flounce and shapes are important as colors.

A Wild Outlook: A furry’s thought’s on furries.
A Wild Outlook: A furry’s thought’s on furries.
By Naomi Finesmith
With any good explanation, the first thing one must do is define the terms, so allow me to define what “furry” is.
In my humble and limited opinion, a Furry is someone who finds the concept of anthropomorphized animals to be attractive. Under this broad spectrum are countless manifestations.
“Furry” means something different to everyone, but I rather doubt that many would disagree the common denominator is a simple attraction to a concept. I suppose a good comparison would be with those who like Star Wars (and indeed there is overlap, taking into account the Ewoks, Wooikies, and Hutts.).
We go to conventions, worship popular figures from afar, dress up in elaborate costumes, buy merchandise, read stories… that sort of thing. But what sets furries apart is the highly visible sexual component.
I personally theorize that since Furs are closer to their bestial nature (supposedly, anyways), thus we are less ashamed of our more base instincts. Or maybe there aren’t enough sites out there to offer a completely clean set of pictures, and since Sex sells, people cater to the demand. Whatever the reason, I will take a moment to debunk several of the myths surrounding Furrydom and the sexuality therein:
1. Not all furs want to have sex with actual animals. This is called “Beastiality”, and exists both in Furries and non-Furries, albeit a very small minority that’s larger and both more acceptable and noticeable amongst Furs.
2. Not all Furries are gay. Furs have a much higher ratio of homosexuals, bisexuals, and omnisexuals as compared to the rest of the population, it’s still less than 50%. The term “Furfag” is not only derogatory, it’s more than likely inaccurate too.
3. Not all furries believe they “Are” their animal. This is a case of yet another over-publicized minority known as the “Therians”. In this case, it’s closer to a religion than it is an interest.
4. There are female furries. I should know. I am one. Yes, there are males who masquerade as female, be it for any number of reasons, some good, some not so good, but again, they are a minority. Once more I must admit that there is likely a higher ratio of disguised males in furry-dom as compared to elsewhere, but if you meet a fur with a female avatar, you are most likely talking to an actual female.
5. No, not all furries are sex-fiends. It may seem that way, and indeed is a higher percentage of open and complex relationships, but the majority of those in relationships are exclusive, and I can speak with certainty that not all are sexually active IRL.
6. Not all furries wear costumes. Again, this is a case of a highly visible minority. Fursuits are expensive and bulky. They’re pretty much the domain of the well-off and the dedicated.
I hope this has answered some of your questions about the Furry fandom, and cleared up a lot of the misconceptions surrounding it. When you look back, it’s Furs that have established many of the older internet chat communities. FurryMUCK, Tapestries, Furcadia,
We’ve been around for a long time, and we’ll be here for a long time to come.
P.S by Anna Avalanche: Dear readers, what do you think about furry? Please leave your comment if you agree or disagree with Naomi Finesmith.

The Blogosphere: Communications in the 21st Century
By Naomi Finesmith
The other day I saw my first article up here… and it hit me. The significance of it. That I, someone who has never really aimed for anything more than mediocrity, have suddenly become heard. Something I typed on a whim and a spark of inspiration, has been read by hundreds, maybe even thousands… It’s a humbling experience.
In modern times, we take so many things for granted. Until wetware becomes practical, the Internet is the end-all be-all of data transfer. In more practical terms, the internet has given voice to millions. Anyone who has anything to say can say it and be heard. Whether people keep listening all depends on how well they say it, but it is a statistical certainty that someone, sooner or later, will stumble upon whatever is written and read it. The world has become a much smaller place, now that the means to reach millions are at your fingertips. Yes. You. The one on the other side of this screen. You’ve got a keyboard just the same as I do, you can write, just like I do. There’s nothing stopping you from doing so.
In the end, it all comes down to a matter of voice. Everyone can whisper, but can you yell it from the rooftops? Anyone can speak to 2 or 3, but can you talk to 2 or 3 thousand? That’s up to you, but if you think you’ve got something others should hear, then it’s your choice, your privilege, to make yourself heard. Welcome to the Blogosphere, we’re glad to have you.
P.S from Anna Avalanche: Yes you are right Naomi. I am glad you wrote another article. I want to extend this invitation to all other readers as well. If you like to give us your impressions about SL feel free to contact me.

LifeSecond: First impressions of a newcomer to the world of Linden
Like my great friend Wildstar Beaumont, that became one of my best contributors. Naomi Finesmith, a very intelligent friend, is giving me the satisfaction to publish her first article in our blog.
LifeSecond: First impressions of a newcomer to the world of Linden.
By Naomi Finesmith
I am what most would call, a noob, a newbie. I have only recently entered the world of SecondLife, and have only glimpsed the smallest fraction of its residents and areas, and yet, here is a place I feel comfortable. I have a good bit of experience with communities of this sort, but only in pure text. To me, SecondLife is like taking a cartoon, pulling him up off the static reality of his life on paper, and setting him down in the real world. I find myself supremely grateful I had someone to show me the ropes, lest I become hopelessly lost in the digital ocean of SL.
I've known about Second Life for several years now... heard of it in forums, read articles about it in magazines, seen snippets of it on Television... but there's nothing quite like diving in with both feet, immersing yourself in another world... where who you are is who you want to be, no more, no less. Any reservations, any hesitancies, any hangups that exist in one's first life, are merely things of whim in one's Second. Everything is choice. It's a mind-boggling concept to begin with, but once the reality (virtual or otherwise), sinks in, there's a sense of incredible freedom that comes with it. The world is at your fingertips, and so long as you stay within the confines of politenesss, no one will stop you.
SecondLife has something for everyone, be you hippie, emo, goth, furry, punk, indie, street, professional, looking to escape life, or looking to make one. Second Life isn't just simulation... it's an entire virtual reality. All one needs to do is carve out a niche, and enjoy yourself. There are even those who make a living in Real Life off of transactions in SecondLife. it's incredible, the level of impact it can have... a virtual economy that affects the real economy. It's almost scary to think about.
Ultimately, it comes down to a question of identity. With so much freedom, one can get lost in the glamor of the scenery, but the core of Second Life is clear: your life is what you make it. You can look how you want, act as you'd like, and indulge in whatever suits your fancy. Second Life is your oyster, and the pearl of Freedom lies at your fingertips.

First Life Experience – interview.
First Life Experience – interview.
Text: Anna Avalanche and Liane Maertens

Models: Anna Avalanche, Annacarol Beanazzi, Liane Maertens
Edition for the Déjà vu Magazine: Dodd Roff
The “Olimpo girl 2008” (Garota Olimpo 2008), was a model contest in the Brasil Rio Island organized by AQUILES Amat. This was my – Anna Avalanche - first experience judging a beauty contest, the first contest for Annacarol, and the first international journalist article for Liane. When I realize it I change a bit this text. This is an article about first experience. Normally we get confuse, impatient and stressed when doing things you never did before. Well, Second life as a simulator can help us if used to get a background experience for our life.
This will be an article divide in two parts. The first one, journalist Anna and Liane are also interview about first experience. In the second part the “Olimpo girl 2008” is interview.
How was your first experience as a journalist?
Liane Maertens: Was really great to write my first article for an important magazine, when Anna asked I was a bit unsure if I could make it, but I decided to accept the challenge. I work as a model for a long time at Second Life and was first time I went to a show to cover the backstage and the make off. I was very welcome by the models and the owner of the agency, what made my job easy, all the girls and mostly the winner helped me a lot. Anacarol was very nice answering my questions and was really easy for me to write it down. I really hope more jobs like this and to work for the magazine once more, the experience was really great.
How was your first experience judging a beauty contest?
Anna Avalanche: From the pedagogic perspective a simulator permit learners to feel moments deeply. These simulations require activation of cognitive complex process. When using a simulator we need to recovery information from the memory. Simulators like Second Life help develop strategies to solve problems, make decision faster, formulate hypothesis that anticipate reactions. All this prevents us to be wounded. Well at least physical injured because we use a simulator of course. This is not truth to some people that really leave the moment so intensive that fiction became reality in their minds.
I have been in some contest as a model. The ones I lost I learned more about me and Second life beauty contest. This time I was the judge. The experience was very nice, but hard. I didn’t expect that it was so hard to judge the winner; even so I was only one of the tan judges. I realize that we can have nice experience in Second Life. We can try different situations that never had chance to occur in real life. This could be personal relation, work, and any kind of creation. This new situations can have different approaches. I really believe we should learn more about us, and the Second Life as a simulator can help people to learn more about themselves and about life situations. If you use this as a tool to achieve a higher knowledge for your life this is good. The problem is that some people get upset because lost a contest that is virtual. Sometimes people get so much involved in Second Life and forget this is just a 3D simulator. Anyhow we learn even form a great lost and difficulty but, using a simulator is less painful sometimes.
As Annacarol Beanazzi is from Italy and is the winner of “GAROTA OLIMPO 2008” she deserves a special interview with more questions. We all want to know a little bit more about her.
How was your first experience in a beauty contest?
Annacarol Beanazzi: I liked, this added knowledge on my model career. I learned good and bad things. But this show me how to proceed. The good ones and nice ones certainly serves as stimulus. Therefore I think that I learned even winning the “GAROTA OLIMPO 2008”. With certainty it was a wonderful experience. I like to thank very much everyone in the contest for my first experience in this journey inside Second Life.
How you define yourself?
Annacarol Beanazzi: I am friendly and companion, sincere and calm. I love to make friends I try not to harm people, but if happens I have no shame in ask for forgiveness. I prefer simple and practice things. The nature is something extraordinaire. I love the sea!
I believe at the dialog as the most efficient way to solve problems and conflicts. I early learned that things we won with honesty and dedication is what brings us happiness, because I understand that the human being is moved by dreams and desires. Thus, here and at my real life I try to work to win my own space, always respecting the others. After all, I understand life as a continuous construction, where we have to plant our garden now, looking always forward, never behind, seeing the flowers grow day by day. God gave us all the tools we needed is just know how to use them. Bacioneee ^Ä^
From all things you did and do, would you change something?
Annacarol Beanazzi: No. I always think very much and I do very well until the end and I never regret after.
How is the rhythm of your life as GAROTA OLIMPO 2008?
Annacarol Beanazzi: Until now is normal. The contest ended and the life goes on. I still need to walk a lot. And this was just first step of a long walk. I know that I have still too much to walk and win. The title was great, I loved to win. After all was for that I invested and battled, but I have conscience that only the title isn’t enough, I know that helps a lot but I still need to run after and keep walking.
What is the most difficult part of being the GAROTA OLIMPO?
Annacarol Beanazzi: Well the most difficult is to show that you are more than a beautiful face. Show that you have brains and a goal as a professional.
You want to participate in other contests?
Annacarol Beanazzi: Yes, if I have the opportunity and if I think It is worth. Not anyone, but serious contest as Olimpo. And congratulations to everybody there!
What were the aspects that motivated you to participate at the contest?
Annacarol Beanazzi: Well I always loved fashion. And when I saw myself at second life I decided to practice the dream of being a model, I needed at my second life to have a profession then I decided to invest in this and I liked.

MODAVIA
First thing we think when heard about MODAVIA is that all is about modeling agency, nothing can be more wrong. Modavia is NOT a modeling agency and Modavia does NOT provide modeling jobs.
Modavia is a society of models who work together to improve each other, and eventually attain Modavia Supermodel status. There are a set number of Modavia Supermodels at any given time. Modavia Supermodels remain as such until they retire or until they are asked to retire.
Modavia Supermodels are featured in the Modavia Fashion Directory. The Modavia Fashion Directory is the single source for presenting the who's who in top fashion. It is a blend between a highly polished, elegant fashion magazine and a catalog of the best designers and models within Second Life.
There is ONLY ONE goal for any model joing the Modavia Prospective Models group - to become a Modavia Supermodel. If you make the Modavia Supermodels many good things will happend.
Is a Modavia Supermodel Different from Other Models?
We hope so! We work hard and pride ourselves on trying to be unique. As a concept, here’s how you may think of a Modavia Supermodel: Though they are stunning, Modavia models are not selected by beauty alone--anybody can be beautiful in SL. Rather, each model has created a certain unique and distinctive appearance; they stand out in a room--you just know they're Modavia. They have an innate talent for style, particularly an image that is not off-the-rack. Modavia Supermodels are seldom satisfied with throwing on ready-made looks, rather they differentiate and enhance their appearance far beyond what others are willing to do. They have been given certain custom-designed proprietary items that no other model in SL has, and thereby further differentiate them from the rest. They're the "model" of perfection -- they're Modavia!
Finally, it's your looks that first attract and your spirit or attitude that keep attracting. Modavia wants people who are beautiful outside and inside. You need to have a great attitude. Respect people even if you don't like them. Don't let me hear you saying ugly things about others. Be hard-working, people-caring. Be willing to help. Be kind. Be generous. Be available. And…
Be beautiful to someone today!
That is what MODAVIA is about!!

FASHION TRENDS AND TIPS
Text and Photography from Anna Avalanche
I felt I am lost in terms of Second Life fashion style. There are very good outfits items on good stores. That’s not the question. Here woman decide about clothes, accessories, hair style, animation and also body skin and shape. This means everyone can get confuse from the many opportunity and combinations we have on Second Life outfit. I don’t pretend to make this article a fashion manual. But “All fashion is clothing; although clearly not all clothing is fashion...we need fashion rather than clothes-not to clothe our nakedness but to clothe our self esteem” (Colin McDowell – 1995). This quote is particular truth in Second Life. The difference we need to choose also shapes, skins, hairs, etc.
Dress from Pietra Biondi and Halisson Usher
The problem is how combine everything to make us beautiful and desirable. How can we catch attention from our outfit on this wonderful world? On real life we can change very little our natural body shape with plastic surgery. This is not a problem on second life but might be a dilemma. I have seen people trying to make their outfit into a Christmas tree. Maybe we can find some “presents under the tree”. But, if you put a fabulous diamond on a box full of sparkling jewels you might not seen it. However, if you put this same fabulous diamond on a wood box with simple dull jewels you might notice it. “The best thing is to look natural, but it takes make-up to look natural” (Calvin Klein).
Dress from Pietra Biondi and Halisson Usher
So I interviewed some fashion expertise friends about my doubts. Lucille Morigi is equivalent to “Gisele Bündchen” from Second Life. She is a SL top model, fashion teacher and an expertise on Second life fashion. She has attended some of the best modeling shows on Second Life like; Shakture Couture Unveiled Fashion Show on late 2007.
Anna Avalanche (AA): what's your style?
Lucille Morigi (LM): My mood tells me what kind of outfit I must wear. Sometimes I want to be the girl next door and others I want to be a Star. Therefore I don't have one outfit I like best.
AA: What suggestion you would like to give to designers?
LM: Show some real fashion, show things that come from your minds. Work with prims and attachments. Bring different textures, dare to be different!
AA: What is your advice for those women that what to be a models?
LM: Women that want to become models should get used to be thinner, have less muscle, less butt, hips and breasts. Never and I mean Never wear blings and body oil. And then apply to a Modeling School. It's really important. It opens doors for you. They should also start reading fashion blogs or magazines to know something about style. Start going to fashion shows and see what that is all about. They should also know that they will spend much money before anything happens. Portfolio, Classes, poses, skins, hair, outfits, all that have a cost. So, you'd better do it for fun.
AA: What is your opinion about people that like to use oil in the body and big muscle shape?
LM: In my opinion body oil makes avatar look like plastic people. Well, that's not my taste. Each person shows here what they want to have in return. Obviously, they are not well dressed, but maybe they don't care. The important thing is to be happy!
AA: What about Second Life?
LM: Second Life seems to be growing fast in fashion and entertainment. Musicians, video makers, builders and scripter’s these seem to have future. Second Life has amazing places to explore, to learn and to open mind, if one is willing to do so. That's really interesting. I can see some future here.
I also talked with Pietra Biondi and Halisson Usher. They achieved success in Brazilian Second Life fashion world. In real life they really work on fashion. Halisson is graduated in Industrial Design from the University of Brasilia, Brazil. But he also studied product design and had a close relationship with professionals and fashions centers. Pietra has worked as a producer of fashion.
Anna Avalanche (AA): What are the difficulties for a designer?
Pietra Biondi and Halisson Usher (PB and HU): The most difficulty is creating and innovating. Follow the SL progress require some real life time.
AA: What is your view about people outfit? Especially those that like to use oil in the body and big muscle shape?
HU: The stature of Brazilians avatars is influenced by the Latin-American people self esteem. The Brazilian people are vain and try to create a beautiful figure.
PB: About the fashion, I know a few women who really dress their avatars very well. Oil, tan lines and low-cut clothes, commonly seems artificial in the SL and I don’t like it. The extreme hinder the finality. Women with strong muscle legs and body lose their female curvilinear shape.
AA: What is your opinion about Second Life?
HU: The Second Life is the best interface to customize own appearance. For who has patience and wish a relationship it is a good tool for socialization and contacting new people. I believe that the Linden should seek partnerships and integration with browsers "in-world", expand the possibilities of real business and improve graphics mechanisms. The Integration with other Internet services is in my opinion, a matter of survival.
*************************************************************
I would like to give my personal fashion tips and suggestions. Please don’t understand this as an obligation to be beautiful. “The most courageous act is still to think for yourself aloud” (Coco Chanel). This is only Anna Avalanche thinking of myself aloud. Lol!
Tall Boots:
Knee-high boots make great sense because they let you wear everything from skinny jeans to miniskirts. Black or dark color pairs with almost everything.
Fitted Jacket:
A great tailored jacket fitted to show off feminine curves, not a baggy masculine style, will pair with everything from work trousers to jeans. A jacket adds structure to your figure and creates waistlines and smoothes out lumps and bumps for all shapes.
Chic Colors
Opt for something red, crimson or pink…. Red can give your skin a lift. It reflects back its warm color to your skin. Whether it is a wide belt, round toe heels or matte red lips, this color is always a good choice. Also try the classic colors of black and white.
The Baby Doll Dress
Baby Doll dress rises to the occasion. The baby doll dress comes in different styles with fullness in the skirt and a shorter length. Perfect for day into evening... look cute and casual in a sundress, a pretty mini, or splash out in something special.
Skirts style
Some skirt could make your lumps and waist look bigger. Take care and reduce your lumps and waist if that is the case.
Emphasize Your Curves!
Women have coveted the hourglass figure for centuries. Now it’s easy to create those classic curves no matter how you’re shaped. You could also use clothes to emphasize that.
Face Light!
This is a tricky tip. The face light can shine your face. But don’t use the strong light in some places if you want to see the natural lights. You can fine a very nice faceFX Designer light at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cleary/102/72/114
I personally think that we should look at the overall situation, background and timing. Don’t forget that our “diamond” must shine. So maybe you must simplify. One who better understood the relation between fashion and context in real life was Coco Chanel. “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different. A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous” (Coco Chanel).
The background context changed with the introduction of automobile and modern industrial machinery on daily life. After 1900 women's clothing became lighter and lighter in construction and materials. A popular style in this period was the "Lingerie Dress" a feather-light white cotton dress inset with strips of open work lace and net.
Most women's dress in this era was highly influenced by the advancing feminist cause, which after 1903 escalated to widespread civil disobedience by "Suffragettes" (radical suffragists). Women modeled their behavior and appearance upon the “Gibson Girl” the popular image of the "New Woman". Men's clothing styles such as the suit, shirt, hard collar and tie were worn by women forcing themselves into professions formerly occupied by men. Health fads of the 1890's and 1900's also encouraged women's sporting activities, particularly bicycling, which, in turn promoted sport clothing as a fashion.
“Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening” (Coco Chanel). Chanel understanding of the relationship between woman context and fashion was unique. She was completely modern in this respect. She once said: “women have to be light, quick, to run to catch a bus or a taxi”. Maybe we might be less attached to be seen well in a lagging place. In Second Life we must understand that our image must download on someone else computer. With a lot of attaches, sparkle and particles you might be beautiful but not rezz totally. “Fashion is all about expressing yourself without saying a word” (MuñekaWear).
*************************************************************
I would like to conclude with real life designer's quotes that might help you.
“Be yourself is about the worst advice you can give some people” (Tom Masson).
“Designing is a matter of mixing known elements in new and existing ways in order to create fresh combinations and products” (Sue Jenkyn Jones).
“When in doubt, wear red” (Bill Blass).
“Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months” (Oscar Wilde).
“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safer, the creatures of the common place, the slaves of the ordinary” (Cecil Beaton).
“Zest is the secret to all beauty. There is no beauty that is attractive without zest” (Christian Dior).
“Fashions fade, but style is eternal” (Yves Saint Laurent).

Spending money... really necessary?
From Lucille Morigi blog
If you don't want to become a supermodel there is no need to spend much money in Second Life.
I have made a research joining Second Life with an alt - because I knew that if I had one linden I would eventually buy something and I was after freebies for newbies.
So Christina, my alt had to camp - yes, camp -for money.
Actually I found out that she got from a newbie to something pretty reasonable only going to some good stores, like
Calla
Bare Rose Tokyo HQ
ETD
Ghost, Ingenue, Alady, Tuli at Gossipgirl Sim and Gurl 6.
This is how Christina joined second life and she (I) was not happy with her look; She wanted to be different and have more outfits.
And after going to ETD, Gurl 6, Alady and Bare Rose, this is how she became:
These are 3 linden look all, including shape, skin, outfit, hair and shoes.
As I said: She is not a model, but she only went to places where freebies were available, either 1 linden or 0 linden.
She even bought a 1 linden photosphere to take her snapshots!
So, yes, I believe that you can live in sl and don't spend too much.

Racism at Vogue cover?
The new Vogue magazine cover featuring basketball star LeBron James and the Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen. There are several in the media who are now saying the cover is racist and is a take on the ‘racist’ image of King Kong holding damsel Ann Darrow in distress.
ESPN writer Jemele Hill was one of the first to mention this in her article, “LeBron Should Be More Careful with His Image”.
NBA star LeBron James has dismissed criticism that his recent Vogue cover reeked of "Me Tarzan, you Gisele Bundchen."
Some academics, analysts and bloggers say that James' bared teeth and hulking pose, one arm slung around Bundchen's waist, reinforces the stereotypes of black athletes as savage animals. And such images "reinforce the criminalization of black men," a University of Maryland kinesiology professor tells the Associated Press.
But James says he was pleased with the Annie Leibovitz-shot cover, the first in Vogue to feature an African-American man. "It wasn't a situation we're being rough or looking mean," James tells the Plain-Dealer in Cleveland. "Just showing a little emotion. We had a few looks, and that was the best one we had ... Everything my name is on is going to be criticized in a good way or bad way. Who cares what anyone says?"
The April issue is dedicated to size and shape, says Vogue spokesman Patrick O'Connell. "We think LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen look beautiful together, and we are honored to have them on the cover."
What you think? The cover is racist? By the way, have you suffer racism on SL? If you did, leave your comments please.

Thank you for the "greek god" :))
Even if I am not :)
It is a beautiful article: I'm happy to have met you and to have found your blog.
I loved the last paragraph: there are some deep thoughts there.
It made me think about being rich and VIP. Surely I am not a VIP in SL: I was at that party because my girlfriend got the invitation for me. She is not rich either though: she even got a second RL work to be able to pay her tier and keep her dream alive.
I am sure that some people at the party were rich, land barons or so, but most people were probably paying that level of tier because they too have a dream, they have something to give, they find a way to express themselves. There are so many wonderful creations in SL.
I believe the real VIPs are those behind places that make you happy just looking around you after a TP
I must go back to explore your old articles now :)

Dejá vù international is the first Second Life magazine printed in real life
I received the first magazine born in Second Life printed in real life. The magazine is very beautiful and amazing!! The quality of the paper and the images are better than from “Veja - the best Brazilian magazine”. I am very happy from receiving the magazine and by the letter full of praises about my contribution. I am very proud to be part of this new proposition for Second Life.
We now have three options to read the magazine, on our hands the printed magazine, on the web site and inside Second Life. The content is also wonderful. If you want to make part of this new reality, please, contact me. This magazine is already a success and will achieve much more.
Daije you really surprise me this time। Congrats to all readers, journalists and sponsors that made this magazine amazing.

Virtual adultery and Cyberspace Love?
We do get the nice side, too. The other main case study looks at Steve and Kristen, a British couple who started their relationship online, but consummated it in real life. And then got married, virtually, and later in reality, too. I bet even they get confused sometimes.
Well this is a very interesting documentary. You will be surprise!!! Don’t miss watching it. I would love to have comments about this.

Great Idea
Calling on SL citizens ... help our fellow Colombian friends by joining a Facebook group calling for the end of a terrorist group named FARC. FARC has held this wonderful country hostage for years and the good people of Colombia are now fighting back:
